Calvin is the son of a hereditary chief and member of the Ts’msyen nation from the community of Lax Kw’alaams. He has extensive experience: as senior business executive, and lawyer; in NGO and governmental sector, and; as best-selling author on topics focused on lifting Indigenous Peoples out of poverty (https://calvinhelin.com/). He is also winner of numerous provincial and national business awards. His broad skillset includes: community and public relations, and engagement; policy development and public speaking, administration, business; organization analysis and fund raising. He has a deep background in Indigenous rights, legal, political, and business issues, and a track record that defines his versatility and capacity to accomplish the most difficult tasks and projects.

As Chairperson and President of Eagle Spirit Energy Holdings Ltd., he led a First Nations company focused on building an energy corridor through northern B.C. and Alberta. In doing this he was successful in lengthy consultations in achieving the support of First Nations for the project, recruited top level industry and consultation teams, managed all Indigenous and public relations, and developed a strategic and technical business plan.

Calvin was founder and President of the Native Investment and Trade Association (1989-2007), served three separate terms on the Vancouver Baord of Trade culminating as director and chair of the Aboriginal Opportunities Committee, was director of GeoScience BC, and founding director of numerous leading-edge Indigenous organizations. His wide-ranging experience and expertise is invaluable to Indigenous communities and business/industry in moving constructively forward, “to lift all canoes.”
